Name Is Asher Lev

Journal #7

Chapter #11

In this chapter, there was a very ironic action by Asher when he decide to go to Europe when his parents were coming back. This created some conflict with his parents. However, he was going for a completely different reason that had nothing to do with his parents. He decided that he had to do this for himself and not anyone else so that he could fulfill his aspirations. He thought that this could be the chance for him to express himself even further.

Asher didn't decide this on his own, he had an inspiration that convinced him to go. This inspiration was Jacob Kahn, who wanted him to have the great experience of painting in Europe. This was something that he really wanted to do and his parents weren't going to get in the way of it. Jacob helped him to realize this, but he also thought that this was the right decision to make for Asher.

It was quite ironic that Asher had refuse to go to Vienna when his parents were going, but now he is going on his own free will. His parents were not happy about this at all. They couldn't understand why he couldn't go for them, but he is going now. Asher didn't want to go for his parents sake, he wanted to go for himself. Not only was he going there not for his parents, but he was doing something that his father strongly disapproved of doing.

This just goes to show how much Asher really wants to do his own thing and he doesn't agree with the way his parents go about things. As much as he may love his parents, he has to do somethings for himself.
