Name Is Asher Lev

Journal #5

Chapter #6

In this chapter, the is a lot of turmoil going on in this family. This occurred because Asher's father ended up having to move to Vienna. The family was split apart and no one was happy about it. However, Asher was able to stay where he wanted. Although, everyone was hurt by this, Asher's mother was the one who was hurt the most. This was something that had to happen and the family had to learn how to deal with it in the best way possible.

Asher's mother went into a stage of depression because she had to be away from her husband for so long. Her relationship with Asher also became much more distant. She said that it was Asher's fault that this had to happen. It came to a point where her and Asher really weren't talking to each other at all.

The job of Asher's father had a great bearing on the family even before he was forced to move to Vienna alone, it is unimaginable what it could have been like then. Even though they wrote to each other often, it was not even close to the same way that it used to be. The feelings that Asher's mother had were so strong that she put a table in front of the window so she can look out like she had always done. She also refused to use her husband's desk, it was almost like it was a sacred place only to be used by him.

Both Asher and his mother were also very worried about his father because he was being put in a dangerous situation. During this time they didn't know what to do with themselves because they were always thinking about him. Asher was drawing a great deal throughout those weeks of his father's departure. The feelings were endless.
