A Lesson Before Dying

Journal #2

In the second half of this book, there was a complete change in attitude as far as Grant is concerned. He decided that it would be the right thing to do if he went and talked to Jefferson. There was nothing wrong with that decision, he was making a change for the better. These two men had just been talking at first, but as it went on, the reader could see that they were starting to really like talking to each other. They may have been completely different people, but maybe that was the reason why they got along so well.

Grant was a man with a good education. He was doing something with his life. He had become very successful over the long years of hard work. Jefferson on the other hand had basically no education, and the only place he was going at the moment was prison. No one could ever picture these two men as actually becoming good friends. People who talk to each other about anything and everything one a regular basis. Somehow, with a little help from two little old women, they ended up with a great relationship.

Including the effort from both men, they managed to create an unbreakable bond between them. Many of the scenes in the book were in Jefferson's prison, while the two of them just talked. Now that Grant had come around for Jefferson, he may have a better feeling in his heart when he is forced to meet with death. That support was a big part of his life and he is sure to appreciate it forever. The bond that was created through the course of this book was indescribable.
